Kathryn Stockett was born and raised in Jackson, Mississippi. After graduating from the University of Alabama, she moved to New York City, where she worked in magazine publishing and marketing for nine years. She currently lives in Atlanta with her husband and daughter. The Help is her first novel.

    I personally don't think you should be writing about racism. Instead of standing up to it, you white people are making movies for your own entertainment. I really disagree with this, it is being selfish and showing that certain people will do anything to be on the front page of an article.

    This is one book that brings tears (both of euphoria and grief) to the eyes, that makes you roll on the floor laughing and then keeps you pensive for hours on end. One of the most beautiful books I have ever read, extraordinarily well written. Love, love, LOVE this book.

    I'm a very hard person to please when it comes to books but I loved reading The Help. I watched the film first and new there must be more to this story in the book, which there was. It's a very heartwarming but also shocking story.
