  • Sickly sweet

    I bought this book because I really enjoyed another book by this author so had high hopes. Unfortunately, it did not meet expectations. I found the story line sickly sweet, the characters so unrealistic, boring and quite unlikeable, and the detail about things that didn't matter so OTT that I had to just walk away from the book for this reason (once I've started a book, I have to finish it - it's the only reason I stuck with it. Crazy I know). I lost count at the amount of times I saw the word vintage, I really think a thesaurus would have been appreciated. The reason I have given it a couple of stars is that it is a different story line, and it could have been so much better if the comments above had been addressed.

    I loved this book, couldn't put it down. The characters are people you can relate too, the whole thing you could really picture and imagine. I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to reading another of her books, fingers crossed they are just as good!

    Considering its mid July and we're going through a heat wave; reading this book has made me feel cosy and Christmassy. The book is beautifully written and had me hooked. I've literally finished reading it and I'm still in floods of tears. I'm going to be downloading Ali Harris' next book. And I can't wait.

    I love chick lit, but the story and characters on this book are unrealistic and quite contradictory. Didn't enjoy the plot, but it was nice to read about familiar places in central London.

    A real heart warming Christmas tale. Slightly over descriptive and too sickly sweet in areas, but the actual story was excellent and perfect for this time of year

    To be quite honest not the best book I have read in my life...quite mediocre actually but it kept me preoccupied on my train rides home and on nights I couldn't seem to fall asleep..spotted many typos but overall and alright read..the vintage aspect kept me interested
